About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Brooklyn’s 258 DeKalb Ave, Dosa Royale brings the rich, aromatic flavors of South Indian cuisine to New York City with authenticity and warmth. This Indian restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere where guests can experience traditional delicacies that evoke the comforting essence of home-cooked meals, coupled with the vibrant spirit of the neighborhood.

At Dosa Royale, the star of the menu is undoubtedly the array of expertly crafted dosas. From the Mixed Veggie Uttapam, a thick, savory pancake dotted with fresh onion, tomato, green chili, and seasonal vegetables, to the Rava Masala Dosa—a semolina-based delicacy infused with cashews, red onion, curry leaves, roasted cumin, fresh coriander, and curried potato—the dosa creations explode with layered textures and flavors. The dosas are generously sized, with a delicate balance of crispness and softness, although some diners have wished for a slightly crispier edge for that perfect bite. Each dosa is served with an array of vibrant chutneys and comforting sambar, inviting you to savor a symphony of tastes with every mouthful.

Beyond dosas, Dosa Royale excels with a tempting selection of curries that are both hearty and nuanced. Signature dishes such as the Chicken 65, a crispy, spiced southern fried chicken starter, and the creamy, velvety Chicken Curry showcase the kitchen’s mastery over traditional Indian spices and cooking techniques. Vegetarians will delight in the wholesome Avial, a coconut milk curry featuring a medley of fresh vegetables, or the robust Eggplant Kulambu simmered in a uniquely nutty curry made from sesame, peanuts, coconut, and cashews.

Dosa Royale’s menu also gently lures you toward sweet endings with desserts like the subtly fragrant Saffron Semiya Payasam, a vermicelli pudding scented with saffron and cardamom, or the indulgently soft Gulab Jamon, sweet cheese dumplings soaked in syrup. These desserts provide a perfect close to the rich and spicy flavors that define the meal.

The dining experience here is distinguished not only by the food but by the friendly and attentive service. Regular patrons praise the staff’s warmth and the genuine hospitality that make each visit feel like being welcomed into a close-knit community. Whether you’re indulging in a hearty lunch of Chicken Korma with fluffy basmati rice and fresh naan, or ordering for delivery on a cozy night in, the generous portions and careful preparation ensure satisfaction and joy.

Clients like Pearl Sapphire express deep appreciation for Dosa Royale’s “stomach friendly spiced meals” that remind them of home, while Stephanie Diaz has discovered what might be the best butter chicken in NYC right here. Tim Krol’s experience highlights the excellent flavors and speedy service, making Dosa Royale a new neighborhood favorite for him despite years nearby. There are candid notes from Mo Da Prophet praising the generous portions and heartwarming flavors, even suggesting slight room for enhancement in dosa crispiness and sambar seasoning. Thanmai Chowdary recommends the Chicken 65 as a must-try starter, noting the vibrant flavors and beautifully presented dishes that beckon true food lovers.

In essence, Dosa Royale is a celebration of South Indian culinary tradition, brought to life with skill, warmth, and a commitment to quality. It’s a place where every dish tells a story of spices, textures, and heartfelt cooking—perfect for both dedicated foodies and anyone seeking a soul-satisfying meal that feels like home amid the city buzz.

I’ve been in this neighborhood for about 8 years and have never tried Dosa Royale until today. For that, I am extremely regretful. This may be the best butter chicken I’ve had in NYC. Can’t wait to try everything else the menu has to offer!

I've lived in this neighborhood for 20 years, yet never ventured in to Dosa Royale. What I discovered was a very tasty and hearty lunch of Chicken Korma. Fluffy basmati rice, melt-in-your mouth Nan bread and an interesting yogurt sauce I don't remember the name of. The server was a delight and food came out quickly. I'm not sure why others have panned this place. I loved it, and I will be back.

Usually order for delivery but wanted fresh hot dosa today and it’s exactly what I got. Great staff, food that feels like home and easily accessible. Food came out fast. A clean space, generous portions and huge dosa. Affordable. Wish the dosa was crispier, sambar could be a little more flavorful and I didn’t get any spice from adding the mysore to my dosa.

Small South Indian restaurant was discovered in the Fort Green area of Brooklyn. This place has indoor and outdoor seats. Delicious and tasty Naan, a staple of an Indian cuisine was was served warm. Tandoori chicken plate was served with aside salad and chantey. Excellent Masala dosa had a crispy texture With a potato filling; another dosa’s filling was served with a spoiled sweet potato that was quickly discarded and replaced with a freshly made new dosa. All dishes had three chutneys, different in taste and colors. A royal salad was made of all fresh ingredients and was served with a yogurt on a side. Dosa Royal place is worth to try for those who love Indian food and seek new tastes and likes experiences new food cultures.
